Claire and James Weitz are a dynamic team of documentary filmmakers who have been creating and producing socially conscious and emotionally charged content for almost two decades. Joining forces in 2004, they collaborated on the documentary short "The Looks of Love," which chronicled the lives of a colorful family of hairstylists and aspiring musicians at an African American salon and barbershop in L.A. The project touched on several weighty themes, including racism, gang violence, and HIV, and featured interviews with a diverse range of figures, from Ike Turner to Montel Williams.This led to the commissioning of a six-part TV docu-soap by Disney, which Claire and James served as show creators and executive producers.
Since then, their reputation to bridge the gap between Documentary, TV and commercial world proceeds them, having traveled to over 30 countries, producing, directing and story producing documentary and commercial branded content for top tier Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Google, HP, McDonald's, Facebook, Nike, Adidas, Chevrolet, Cadillac, US Bank and more.
With a passion for socially conscious documentary content Claire and James have produced "Honor Thy Earth" for Sony Records with the Indigo girls, exposing the environmental trauma suffered by North American indigenous tribes. "Music Bridges Around The World," which brought together U.S. hit writers such as Burt Bacharach and Bonnie Raitt with street musicians in Russia, Europe, and Cuba.
“The immigrant Orchestra” following a group of world-class master musicians and immigrant refugees who stand against immigration issues uniting in a World Orchestra at the Phoenix Symphony Hall.
USDA’s "Science vs Teacher" following a journey of inner city teachers from DC to Africa to be educated on climate change. "The XQ project" with Lorraine Powell Jobs following the XQ school bus as it journeyed across America to improve and fund Public High Schools. Currently in development is The Girls of Gangyap, a rags to riches story from a remote region of the Himalayas following an outcast girl's basketball team who beat the odds to become the Basketball champions of India. The documentary project is now being developed as a scripted movie led by Oscar winning "Mira Nair" and Mandalay Entertainment.
Multi faceted, British born Claire is a prolific content creator, published composer and director-editor with a passion for children, comedy and musical content, whilst James is an expert story producer and director with a focus on sports, culture and travel. Along with their deep level of research and a low key personal approach, their love for people remains a key factor in an undeniable ability to unlock the power of raw emotion and help "real people" tell their stories. authentically.
